At least nine people were killed and eight injured on Saturday when an explosion ripped through a passenger bus in a marketplace on the outskirts of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to initial reports by the police, the blast hit a passenger coach parked in the Matni Bazar area.
Hospital officials confirmed that nine bodies had been brought to the Lady Reading Hospital.
“Nine bodies have been brought to the hospital. Eight injured patients are in critical condition,” said Jamil Shah, a spokesperson for the Lady Reading Hospital.
Police said the bomb disposal squad was assessing the spot to determine the exact nature of the blast.
